Throughout Germany in the weeks before Christmas, towns and cities create a magical atmosphere enchanting thousands of visitors from far and wide. Cologne is one of the most popular destinations and boasts three separate markets all leading off from the Cathedral with its giant decorated Christmas tree. The "New" Christmas Market held in the shadow of the Cathedral displays the skills of over 50 craftsmen. The Alter Market in front of the town hall provides handicraft stalls and entertainment in the form of Christmas music. The New Market held in the central square is the largest. In all three you will find festively decorated stands offering Christmas gifts, crafts and various culinary delights.Every year Düsseldorf 's Christmas markets opens it's "Gingerbread Houses". Atmospheric markets with individual themes are staged at different places in the lively city centre. The world famous Kinigsallee is decorated with a thousand brilliant lights illuminating the giant chestnut trees along the boulevard
Hotel:
Ramada Cologne/Bruhl. The Ramada hotel is located about 10 miles from the centre of Cologne. Facilities include bar, restaurant and health club with sauna, and Roman Steam Bath. The town of Bruhl is surrounded by a national park and beautiful lakes.Day 1 Depart Aberdeen on board our luxury coach and with suitable stops travel to Hull for overnight cruise with P&O North Sea Ferries to Europort.
Day 2 On arrival in Europort travel through Holland and Germany arriving in Düsseldorf early afternoon. Depart here early evening for your hotel nr Cologne
Day 3 You will be dropped in the centre of Cologne for a full day, taking in the magical atmosphere of the traditional German Christmas Markets
Day 4 After breakfast time depart Cologne and travel back to Holland . There will be time for a stop at another market before returning to Europort for the overnight crossing back to the UK
Day 5 After disembarking the cruise ferry at Hull we continue to make our way back to Aberdeen with suitable stops.
